#1. Knight-Hennessy Scholars at Stanford University

At Knight-Hennessy Scholars at Stanford University, Scholars participate in up to three years of programming that complements their graduate studies and prepares them to take on leadership roles in academia, industry, government, nonprofits, and the community at large.

All scholars are Stanford University graduate students, who join Knight-Hennessy Scholars in addition to enrolling in a graduate degree program at any of Stanford’s seven schools.

#2. AAUW International Fellowships in USA for Women

Since 1917, there have been International Fellowships. The program provides financial assistance to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents who want to return to their native country to pursue a professional career while studying full-time graduate or postdoctoral studies in the United States.

A limited number of grants are available to Graduate Women International members for studies outside the United States (excluding the applicant’s native country) (see the list of GWI affiliates). Graduate and postgraduate study at approved institutions in the United States are both encouraged.

By the application deadline, applicants must have obtained the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in the United States and must have applied to their intended schools of study. Recipients are chosen for their academic achievements as well as their demonstrated devotion to women and girls.

Recipients return home to become leaders in industry, government, academia, community action, the arts, or science.

Funding: $20,000–$50,000

Opens: August 1 every year

#3. Hubert Humphrey Fellowships in USA for International Students

The Humphrey Fellowship Program is designed for experienced professionals who want to improve their leadership abilities by exchanging information and understanding about issues of shared concern in the United States and Fellows’ home countries.

The Fellowship, as a non-degree program, provides great chances for professional growth through chosen university courses, conference attendance, networking, and practical work experiences.

Throughout the year, Fellows pursue their particular program goals while also collaborating with their Humphrey colleagues in workshops and seminars. Unlike a conventional graduate school experience, the Program encourages Fellows to travel outside from their host college in order to learn more about American culture and network with American peers.

The Humphrey Fellowship is for you if you want to extend your horizons and become a global leader.

Nominations for Embassies and Commissions must be submitted to the Institute of International Education headquarters by October 1. The application deadlines differ per country.

#4. Fully-Funded Rotary Peace Fellowships

Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centers.

The Rotary Peace Centers program builds the ability of peace and development professionals to be successful peace catalysts via academic training, practice, and worldwide networking opportunities. #6. American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship

The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship promotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity. Bringing together the best of AU – academic excellence, leadership development, and global engagement – the AU Emerging Global Leader achieves, inspires, and serves with vision.

The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition, room, and board) for one international student who will need a visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States. The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets, and miscellaneous expenses (approximately U.S.$4,000 per year).

The AU EGL scholarship is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, based on continued satisfactory academic performance.

Important: Only one AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is available for Fall 2023. If you are not selected as the 2023 AU EGL recipient and wish to continue the application process, you may be eligible for partial merit scholarships. However, you will need to submit proof of additional funds beyond the initial U.S.$4,000 you provided. Estimated costs for the 2023-2024 academic year are U.S.$73,802.
